Insert the allen wrench, and back all six pistons off 12 of a turn.Ive received a couple PMs about valve adjustments, so I thought Id post this to share with everyone smokn stacks Wrote: Would u share what the proper tune up trick is we see mxs and bxs all the time.Have found some turbo wheels had the leading edge burnt off and find some airr leaks in intake system.I know thats their prob but just cannot get them to be right in my eyes when were done.
The hardest part is getting the valves intake actuators adjusted properly. It helps to flash those engines to 550 HP1850 torque when you run the overhead, if it hasnt already been uprated. The stock factory injectors will handle this file Ill use an MXSNXS engine as an example: When you get the engine pinned, and decide which 3 intake exhaust valves to adjust, loosen the locknuts on those 3 intake valve actuator pistons. Loosen the locknuts on the three jakes that match the exhaust valves. This will ensure that they are not touching the 3 intake 3 exhaust valves you are about to adjust. Dont back them off more than that, the pistons can unseat and lose oil. ![]() The real trick is, when you adjust the actuators jakes, is to snug it down against the feeler gauge wait a minute for the oil trapped inside the piston to seep out. Re-check to see that the feeler gauge is still snug, then remove the allen wrench tighten the locknut with a socket. As you tighten the nut, it will draw the piston up inside the housing, and the feeler gauge will slide out perfectly. You will now have maximum boost and jakes that will push you back in the seat roland29 Wrote: hi ken mech i am working on a cat c15 acert engine engine family 8CPXH0928E1X 15.0 L MEUI INJECTORS and i dont know the procedure to adjust the injector height and valve lash any help will be appreciated thankyou in advance You will have to rotate the engine pin the flywheel before you start. Go to the 1 and 6 cylinder, and wiggle both the intake exhaust rocker arms. If both rockers on 1 are loose, then you have the engine pinned at 1 Top Dead Center. If they are tight, and both rocker arms on 6 are loose, then you are 6 TDC. When at 1 TDC, adjust the following: Intake valves 1, 2 4 Exhaust valves 1, 3 5 After you adjust these valves, adjust the IVA pistons over the intake valves 1, 2 4 Then adjust the Jakes over 1, 3 5. Adjust the following: Intake valves 3, 5 6 Exhaust valves 2, 4 6 Then adjust the IVA pistons on 3, 5 6 Then adjust the Jakes on 2, 4 6 Adjustments: Intake valves.015 Exhaust valves.030 IVA pistons.020 Jake brakes.027 You will need a special tool to check the injector height settings ALWAYS ROTATE ANY CAT ENGINE TO THE RIGHT (CLOCKWISE) WHEN FACING IT FROM THE FRONT.
